Thornton's Classic Box - 150g

In Britain, Thorntons is a name people know from the shopfront as much as the shelf: chocolates in the window, fudge and toffee on the counter. The Classic Box is the assortment, the one you pick up when you want to give chocolates and be sure they will actually get eaten.

People in Canada go looking for it because a box of chocolates is a small thing that carries a lot. A birthday, a thank you, a visit to the neighbour who fed the cat. Handing over the box you grew up with says home without anyone having to say it out loud.

It is a 150g box, a mix of chocolates in a size that is easy to give and still big enough to go round a table. Keep it somewhere cool and dry, well away from the radiator and the sunny windowsill, and the chocolates keep their shine until the lid comes off.

Thorntons is known for its toffee and fudge as well as its chocolates, so if you are putting together a parcel for someone, it sits happily alongside a bag of British fudge and a box of proper tea.
