The sausage roll, and friends
The sausage roll is the thing we sell more of than anything else in the shop: seasoned pork sausage meat in pastry we make from scratch, baked until crisp and golden. Beside it in the cabinet are the pasties, crimped by hand, from the chicken curry and cheese & onion that people buy by the bagful to the full-size Cornish pasty made the way our family learned in the Southwest of England, the Scottish bridie, and the Scotch egg the bakers grumble about. All made in our Halifax bakery with free-range meat from Oulton's in Windsor, Nova Scotia, and local and Canadian ingredients wherever we can get them.
