Rowntree's Randoms Carton - 320g

Rowntree's is a York name, and Randoms sit at the cheerful, slightly chaotic end of its sweet aisle. They are the bag passed along the back seat on a long drive, with someone always rooting for a particular shape and never finding it.

People in Canada go looking for them because the shapes are the memory. You can describe the taste of a jelly sweet to anyone, but trying to explain Randoms without a handful in front of you just makes you sound odd.

This one is a 320g carton, a proper sharing size for a film night, a long road trip or a desk drawer you intend to defend. Keep it in a cool, dry cupboard, ideally somewhere the rest of the house will not think to look.

If Randoms are your thing, the rest of the Rowntree's family is worth knowing: Fruit Pastilles, Fruit Gums and Jelly Tots all come from the same stable, and a mixed pile of them makes a decent care package for anyone who misses British sweets.
