About Nestlé Milkybar Giant Tube

About Nestlé Milkybar Giant Tube

The Milkybars are on me. Every British child who grew up in front of the telly believed the Milkybar Kid meant it.

The Nestlé Milkybar Giant Tube is a tube of those small, round white chocolate buttons, the ones that rattled about on every long car journey and were somehow gone before the motorway services.

One goes in. Then a handful. Then you tip the tube up to the light and pretend you were only checking it was empty.

It is the UK version, and it ships from within Canada, so nobody has to smuggle one home in their hand luggage again.

Frequently asked questions about Nestlé Milkybar Giant Tube

Q: How big is the Giant Tube?

A: It is an 80g tube of Milkybar buttons. Giant by sweet-shop standards, and still somehow finished in one sitting.

Q: Is it a good thing to send as a gift?

A: Very much so, especially for someone who grew up in Britain. It is small, easy to post and tends to get a laugh of recognition before it gets opened.

Q: How should I keep it?

A: Somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sun and well away from the radiator. White chocolate does not forgive a warm windowsill.

More about Nestlé Milkybar Giant Tube

In Britain, Milkybar is simply the white chocolate. It has been the sweet-shop name for it for generations: the one parents handed to small children, and the one those children quietly kept buying as grown-ups.

People in Canada go looking for it because the taste is tied to a very particular time and place. A school trip, a cinema bag, the back seat of the car. You cannot really explain it to someone who did not grow up with it, so it is easier just to open a tube and share.

The tube is the whole point. It fits in a bag, a glovebox or a coat pocket, and the buttons are small enough to hand out one at a time, in theory. Keep it somewhere cool and dry, away from the radiator and the sunny windowsill, and it sits happily in the cupboard until someone finds it.

It goes nicely alongside the rest of the British sweet shelf, especially a tube of Smarties, the other tube that never survived a car journey. Buy both and settle the old argument about which was better.
