The steak is free-range, from Oulton's in Windsor, Nova Scotia. The pastry is puff, made from scratch in our Bayers Lake bakery, and it wraps the pie top and bottom, which gives all that gravy something to soak into. We would call that a design feature. Our bakers would call it Tuesday.
It is five inches across, with a good depth to it, and it is one of our top sellers. We bake seven days a week, and it is hot at the counter from opening until roughly 2 to 3 pm, depending on the day. After that, or if you would rather eat it at your own table, take one home chilled.
Not a Guinness household? That is allowed. Have a look through all our meat pies in Halifax, and do not tell the Guinness people.
Called in today for a steak and Guinness pie and gotta say that it looked so tasty and well made. The blonde lady who served me (Carol) knew what she was talking about and such great banter from her and a cheerful manner. I certainly recommend this place to anyone who likes food and drinks from the UK, there is no doubt that I will call again.
How to heat it
Nothing here needs cooking, only reheating. Take it from the fridge and give it 10 to 15 minutes in an air fryer, or 30 to 35 in a 365°F oven, then check it is piping hot all the way through. The microwave is how good puff pastry goes to waste.
