British Hamlyns in Canada

Some breakfasts need no improving, just a pan, a spoon and the right oats. This small Hamlyns collection brings three Scottish oat staples to Canadian kitchens: Hamlyns Scottish Porridge Oats in a 750g bag, Hamlyns Scottish Porridge Oats and Bran, also 750g, and a 1kg bag of Hamlyns Scottish Oatmeal. If you grew up with a pot of porridge on the go before school, or you have only ever met oats in a microwave packet and want to see what the fuss is about, this is a sensible place to start. Everything here ships from Canada through The Great British Shop.

Porridge oats for proper porridge

Hamlyns Scottish Porridge Oats are the everyday choice, the bag that lives at the front of the cupboard and gets reached for on cold, dark mornings. Make them with milk or water, add a pinch of salt if you are feeling traditional, or finish with golden syrup, brown sugar, jam or a handful of berries if you are not. They also turn up in flapjacks, crumble toppings and overnight oats, so a bag rarely hangs about for long.

Oats and bran, and oatmeal for the cooks

Hamlyns Scottish Porridge Oats and Bran is for anyone who wants a bowl with a bit more going on, mixing oats and bran in a 750g bag that works just as well for a quick weekday breakfast. The 1kg Hamlyns Scottish Oatmeal is the one for people who bake and cook with their oats as much as they eat them for breakfast. Oatmeal is the traditional base for oatcakes, a good coating for fish, a useful addition to bread and baking, and a familiar part of plenty of Scottish recipes. It is the kind of bag that suits a kitchen where someone still has a well-thumbed recipe book from home.

Scottish oats shipped across Canada

We ship across the country, so Hamlyns can head to Halifax and Dartmouth, Toronto and Ottawa, Montréal, Moncton, Saint John and St. John’s, or out west to Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and Victoria. It is an easy way to keep a familiar breakfast in the cupboard without searching shop after shop for the right bag. Add a jar of golden syrup, some marmalade or a few packets of tea while you are at it, and the mornings take care of themselves.
