Thornton's Unicorn Egg - 151g

In Britain, a Thorntons egg is part of the furniture at Easter. It sits on the kitchen table all week, being looked at, before anyone is allowed near it. Thorntons is the name people know for toffee and fudge too, so the egg tends to come with a fair bit of family loyalty attached.

Here, people go looking for it for simple reasons. A grandparent wants the grandchildren to have the egg they had. A British parent wants the Easter basket to look the way it did in their own childhood. Or someone just fancies a Thorntons egg and refuses to be talked out of it.

At 151g it is a good middle size: big enough to feel like a proper Easter egg, small enough that one child can, with determination, get through it. Keep it somewhere cool, dry and out of the sun, and ideally out of reach until the day.
