Thornton's Dinosaur Egg - 151g

In Britain, Easter means a wall of chocolate eggs in every shop, and a Thorntons egg is the one people reach for when they want it to feel like a proper present rather than an afterthought. Thorntons has been a Sheffield chocolate name for generations, so the box carries a bit of weight.

In Canada, people go looking for it because Easter is when you notice what you grew up with. You want the kids to unwrap the egg you unwrapped, or you simply want the Thorntons one again, and no amount of explaining it to friends quite does the job.

It is a single egg, a decent one for one person with a bit of sharing if they are feeling generous. Keep it somewhere cool and dry, away from sunny windowsills and radiators, and hide it properly if there is an egg hunt involved, because dinosaur fans are thorough.

Thorntons is best known in Britain for its toffee, its fudge and its boxed chocolates, so a bag of Special Toffee or a box of chocolates often ends up in the same basket. One for the kids, one for the adults who will claim they were only checking it was fresh.
