Coronation Cream Tea - Pick up only (May 5th)

A cream tea is about as British as an afternoon gets. It is the West Country's great gift to the rest of the country, and the argument over Devon or Cornwall, cream or jam on top, has outlived every government that ever tried to ignore it.

A coronation is exactly the moment you want that. When the whole of Britain is watching the same thing at the same time, it is good to be doing the same thing they are, even with an ocean and a few time zones in the way.

The practical bit is simple. It is collection only, from the shop in Halifax on 5 May, and it is not posted anywhere. It is a cream tea, not a cupboard item, so plan to sit down with it rather than save it for later.

While you are in, most people grab a box of British tea bags as well. A cream tea with the wrong tea is just a scone with ideas. A jar of something for the toast the next morning rarely goes amiss either.
