Robinsons Peach Squash - 1L

Squash is the backbone of the British drinks cupboard: a concentrate you dilute yourself, poured for children, visitors and anyone who has just finished mowing the lawn. Robinsons is the name most people reach for without even looking at the shelf.

Ask for squash in Canada and there is a fair chance someone points you towards the vegetables. That is usually the moment people start searching for the actual bottle, the British one, with the peach flavour they remember from long summer holidays and other people's kitchens.

This is a 1L bottle of concentrate, so it is mixed to taste with still or fizzy water. It sits happily in the cupboard until it is opened, then follow the storage line on the label. How strong you make it is between you and your conscience.

Robinsons makes a whole run of squashes, and plenty of people pick up a second flavour so the peach lasts a bit longer. It also earns its place next to a packet of proper British biscuits, which is roughly how most afternoons in Britain have been spent.
