Swizzels Matlow Sweet Shop Favourites Pouch - 375g

Swizzels sit at the pocket-money end of British sweets: the penny tray, the jar behind the counter, the party bag you took home with a slice of cake wrapped in a napkin. Love Hearts and Drumsticks are theirs, and most people raised in Britain can name them faster than they can name a prime minister.

The search usually starts with a memory. Somebody wants to show their kids what they used to eat on the way home from school, or fill a party bag that tastes like their own birthdays did. A sweet you have not had in years is a surprisingly strong pull.

The 375g pouch is a proper handful, enough for a bowl on the table or a long car journey with the whole family in the back. Keep it closed in a cool, dry cupboard and it will wait patiently until someone finds it, which will not be long.

If this pouch gets you going, Swizzels also make Parma Violets, Refreshers and Drumstick lollies. Plenty of people put a pouch in the basket alongside a bar of Dairy Milk and a bag of crisps, and call it a proper night in.
